History of Grasch Foods

Grasch Foods first generationThe history of Grasch Foods can be traced back to the early 1930s, when Anton and Mary Grasch opened the first Grasch Food Market at 45th and Lisbon in Milwaukee. His son, Tony, started helping out in the business as a youngster and later opened his own store at 31st and Glendale, after he returned from serving as a medic in the Army in World War II. Tony and Josie Grasch took over the operation of the original store in 1953, after Anton Sr. died.

Following in the footsteps of their father and grandfather, Bob Grasch, Mary Jo Grasch Stark and Bill Grasch are co-owners of Grasch Foods today. Bob is responsible for the wine, spirits and grocery department, which includes dairy, frozen foods, and deli departments; Bill is in charge of the produce, bakery, floral and garden departments; Mary Jo is in charge of accounting, personnel and the cashiers.
